Where Are They Now?
Urban Promise Academy alumni are doing big things! Below are just a few highlights...

  • Former UPA student Tram Huynh was featured in a recent San Jose Mercury News piece after winning a "Women Who Dare Awards" award.
From the article: Tram Huynh is a senior at Alameda Science & Technology Institute. She has lobbied with Advocates for Youth in Washington, D.C., for the Real Education for Healthy Youth Act and is active in lobbying for women's rights. She said she stayed in the Capitol for five days training to lobby, and met with U.S. Sens. Dianne Feinstein and Barbara Boxer and U.S. Rep. Barbara Lee, whose East Bay district includes Alameda. Huynh plans to take peace and conflict classes and premedical studies to become an obstetrician-gynecologist.

  • Members of our 2009 8th-grade class, now high school seniors, have been accepted to a range of impressive colleges and universities. Tram (see link above) will attend UC Berkeley, Yesenia will go to UC Santa Cruz, and Kathy has a full ride scholarship to Wellesley in Massachusetts!
